A sentences I use occasionally is what is another strategy we can use to check. I think I need a little more work with the talk moves because they really do help me understand math better.

Persuasive.

This week we were doing persuasive writing. Here is my writing, it's about if sports is better than kapa haka. Have a read.

Sports is better than kapa haka.

To begin with I say kapa haka is better than sports because it helps with singing.

To start with kapa haka can help you with your confidence and it can help you with your discipline.

Secondly I say kapa haka is better because you can get fit by doing all the haka jumps and performing the haka your hardest.

Another reason kapa haka is better than sports is that you get to learn new songs, new haka and new action songs to perform to your family.

One thing I know for sure is kapa haka is better than sports because it helps with your confidence and discipline. You can get fit by doing haka jumps and performing the haka your hardest. You get to learn new songs, new haka and new action songs to perform to your family. all in all I say kapa haka is better than sports, what do you think?

My learning journey

Last week we were learning how to do procedural writing. The thing I found easy was listing out the Ingredient in the writing. The things I found hard was listing the method and listing out what you need. This is a piece of procedural writing I have completed.

How to make bread.

What you need:

A bowl.
A whisk and wooden spoon
Measuring cup
½ measuring cup
Measuring spoons
Ingredient:
½ cups of water
Honey.
Salt
Oil ( you can chose what type of oil)
Yeast
White bread flour
Wholewheat flour
Method

  1. Take your bowl and place it on the surface you are working on.
  2. Retrieve your measuring cup and  fill it to half way with hot water. ( water has to be somewhere between 103-108 degrees.)
  3. Pour the water inside the bowl.
  4. Retrieve the honey, remove the top off the honey and drizzle a touch of it inside the bowl.
  5. Retrieve the whisk.
  6. Whisk the honey in with the hot water until it dissolves.
  7. Retrieve your measuring spoon and yeast and scoop one tablespoon of yeast and sprinkle it across the top of the water in your bowl.
  8. Take a dry clean t-towel and place it over the bowl and let it sit for five to seven minutes.
  9. After five to seven minutes it should look puffy on the top and its one sheet across the entire top of the bowl. If your yeast doesn’t look like that you want to start over and chuck the first batch out.
  10. Retrieve the wholewheat flour and take half a cup of flour and dump it directly in the bowl.
  11. Use the whisk and whisk the flour in with your water and yeast. Whisk it for 30-45 seconds.
  12. Add two teaspoons of salt( start with one teaspoon of salt if you don’t want it to salty.) Then whisk it around in the bowl.
  13. Add one tablespoon of oil into the bowl and whisk it around.
  14. Retrieve the white bread flour and add one and a half cups of it into the bowl and whisk it.
  15. Now add a whole cup of flour and retrieve the wooden spoon to mix it into a ball.
  16. Now scrape out the ball and place it on your working space, ready to need.
  17. Grab another half cup and sprinkle it on to of the ball of dough.
  18. Need the flour into the ball and keep needing it 100-150 times. Need it til it’s nice and tight.
  19. Now grab a clean bowl and the oil you used in the bread and drizzle some into the bowl.
  20. With your clean finger spread the oil around the bowl.
  21. Take your ball of dough and swirl it around in the bowl.
  22. Grab it out and flip it over and do the same to that side of the dough.
  23. Take the clean t-towel and place it over the bowl and let it rest for 30-45 minuets.
  24. After 30-45 minuets your dough should be near the top of the bowl. Once you see that you just push it down with your fist.
  25. Place the t-towel over the dough again and let it sit for another 30-45 minuets.
  26. Pull your ball of dough out of the bowl and need it enough to get the little balls of air out.
  27. Now you can cut your dough into any shape you want as long as there is enough space between the bread.
  28. Turn the oven on and preheat it while the bread is rising.
  29. Once your bread has risen and it is nearly time for it to go into the oven make some egg wash to go over your bread. All you need for egg wash is an egg and some water.
  30. Use a paint brush to go over the bread with the egg wash.
  31. Now put the bread in the oven for 30-45 minuets at 375 degrees.
  32. Once you pull it out you can either eat it or store it. If you store it then you have to wait for it to come to room temperature before storing it in glad wrap.
Now please enjoy the bread you have created.
